April 22, 2009 (PM)-Kevin Crothers 1992 HONDA Accord EX has been re-tagged...

Kevin Crothers HONDA Accord EX with RedOrange Tag

and yes, it's ... Kevin RORANGE, as Usual
or click here to Read About us passing the 250,000 mark]

Note from Kevin: This Red-Orange color mix I feature on my front license tag makes my Accord EX ultra-Visable and super-Safe! I use BELL tags, and I paint them on the inside. But this time, Quinn and Kacy helped me paint the tag! I bought my 1992 Accord EX in March of 1992, and am proud to be approaching the 277,000 mile mark! Let's see... I was working at MSDEQ when I bought it, and then I went to LDDS, and then HMA for a year (exactly), and then to FCMS - 17+ years with the same car, and I enjoy it as much (sometimes more!) as I did the day I drove its first mile, at Patty Peck HONDA on Country Line Road in Ridgeland, MS. Quinn and Kacy tell me all the time my car is their favorite car, and they are always asking me if they can ride in it. And I always let them, and they always bring the biggest smile to my face. And Kim drove it the other day, and said it drove just fine.  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

April 12, 2009 (PM)-US SEA CAPTAIN FREED FROM PIRATES IN SWIFT FIREFIGHT

April 10, 2009 (AM)-OUR NAVY NEEDS TO GET A HANDFUL OF SCUBA DIVERS IN THE WATER

USA Captain is being held hostage

Is our NAVY ... BEING HELD BACK

Note from Kevin: this is embarrassing.

OUR NAVY NEEDS TO GET A HANDFUL OF SCUBA DIVERS IN THE WATER, UNDER THAT OUT-OF-GAS DINGY, AND PUT A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF IT. THEN, THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS. OF COURSE IT'D SINK. THE DIVERS COULD ALSO INJECT GAS INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE DINGY... OUR NAVY KNOWS WHAT TO DO. WHY AREN'T THEY DOING IT? And tell me... certainly assuming every one of those terds had a rifle trained on them, at every moment... why were ALL OF THEM not disabled the moment our captain jumped into the water? On the way to work, this morning, I called the WHITEHOUSE COMMENT LINE - 202-456-1414, attempting to tell them my thoughts, and I was on hold for OVER 20 MINUTES. Each time, I call the comment line, since this new president has taken office, the hold time gets longer and longer. I'm not joking - this comment line is now just about useless. I've called it - I'd say - over 100-125 times over the past 9 years, and NEVER had to wait more than 30-45 seconds for a live operator. OUR COUNTRY IS CHANGING. But, not in a good way.  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

September 26, 2008 (PM)-The first presidential debate has just finished...
John McCain WINS the First Presidential Debate!

And the winner is ... JOHN McCAIN [click for larger image]

Note from Kevin: FOX News had over 75,000 vote on the winner of this first presidential debate, and 8.5 out of 10 voted for John McCain! The votes just kept coming in, and the percentage for McCain just kept going up. The reporters even had the other person's campaign person on the camera, and when asked about it - a good 1.5 hours in front of the poll ending... the man said he would fix that by email'ing their multi-million person email list to cast their votes for the other one. Well... nothing happened. And the DrudgeReport poll: 494,021 votes - McCain:73% Obama :25%. Go Sarah Palin and John McCain!  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

October 23, 2008 (PM)-These two are running a great campaign...

Note from Kevin: Just as they won all four televised debates, they're steadily moving into position to become President and Vice President of the United States of America. [I'm "Joe the Plumber"] is beginning to bloom... You might remember me posting something about another time when we won a big election. Go Sarah Palin and John McCain!  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

January 10, 2008 (AM)-The Crothers family passes to you this GOOD ADVICE for a GOOD NEW YEAR!

There's some mighty fine advice in these words, even if you're not superstitious. This is for good luck - for you!

Please pass this to others when you finish reading.

ONE.
Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

TWO.
Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.

THREE.
Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have, or sleep all you want.

FOUR.
When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.

FIVE.
When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.

SIX.
Be engaged at least 4 mos. and not longer than 7 mos. before you get married.

SEVEN.
Believe in love at first sight.

EIGHT.
Never laugh at anyone's dream. People who don't have dreams don't have much.

NINE.
Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.

TEN.
In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.

ELEVEN.
Don't judge people by their relatives.

TWELVE.
Talk slowly but think quickly - focus.

THIRTEEN.
When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile, look them in the eyes, and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'

FOURTEEN.
Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk...

FIFTEEN.
Say 'God bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.

SIXTEEN.
When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

SEVENTEEN.
Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.

EIGHTEEN.
Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

NINETEEN.
When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

TWENTY.
Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

TWENTY-ONE.
Spend some time alone.

Give this a try. It's simply... GREAT ADVICE!

Note from Kevin: Patsy Millis sent this to me the other night. I passed it along, and am happy I did. Over 90% of my message's recipients have THANKED ME! And they are all smart, successful, hard-working professionals. Yes, I agree with and do my best to follow all the 21 points of this advice, and Goodness does it work well for me! Give them a try, and see what you think.  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

December 24, 2007 (PM)-Christmas is almost here...

Crothers Ornament

Crothers Family wishes you a ... MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Note from Kim and Kevin: Quinn had his Christmas party this past Tuesday and Kim did the crafts with the all kids in Quinn's class. They made photo ornaments.... and they turned out so cute! And the best part? The ormanments were only 50 cents a piece at Hobby Lobby. The kids used glue-dots to add the ice-beads around the frame. We used scrapbook paper to matte the photos. So fun!! The above picture is of Quinn's.  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

September 15, 2007 (PM)-Kim and Kevin suggest you try seeing yourself as "THE BRAVE ONE."

When life changed hers, she changed life... as ... THE BRAVE ONE

Note from Kevin: Kim and I had a great time - hotdogs, popcorn, drinks - at Malco Grandview 17, tonight. We were glued to our seats for this whole movie! And even though it was tough, we really enjoyed it.  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

September 11, 2007 (AM)-9 days from today, ALL CELLULAR TELEPHONE NUMBERS ARE BEING RELEASED TO TELEMARKETING COMPANIES and you will start to receive sales calls.

YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS.

To prevent this, call the National DO NOT CALL Registry from your cell phone:

  1-888-382-1222

You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

STOP UNWANTED TELEMARKETING CALLS

Note from Kevin: This valuable service is brought to us by the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, and will only take a minute of your time. And, you doing this blocks your number for five (5) years! Call 1-888-382-1222 from the cell phone number you want to have blocked, and that's all you have to do - for 5 years, and then you'll need to call, again.  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

Note from Kevin: I have had nothing but good experiences with this service, and always get connected to a very nice person - and one time, even got to speak to Senator Trent Lott (R-MS), himself!! I was really surprised, but he told me he spends a good part of his time in the office, speaking to people who call in from this 1-877-222-8001 line. He even asked me to pause several times, so he could write down what I was telling him. I was very impressed. Trent is Senate Minority Whip, and is serving his 4th-term as a Republican from Mississippi! Call 1-877-222-8001 and you may get to speak with one of your congressmen!  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

May 09, 2007 (PM)-I remember back in the mid 1980's, when people were telling me over and over my decision to follow what my father did for work, was a huge mistake...
        "A Change"

Ten years living in a paper bag
Feedback baby, he's a flipped out cat
He's a platinum canary, drinkin' falstaff beer
Mercedes rule, and a rented lear
        Bottom feeder insincere
        Prophet lo-fi pioneer

Poster girl posing in a fashion mag
        Canine, feline, Jekyll and Hyde
Wear your fake fur on the inside
Queen of south beach, aging blues
Dinner's at six, wear your cement shoes
I thought you were singing your heart out to me
Your lips were syncing and now I see

A change would do you good
A change would do you good

Jack off Jimmy, everybody wants more
Scully and angel on the kitchen floor
And I'm calling Buddy on the ouija board
I've been thinking 'bout catching a train
Leave my phone machine by the radar range
Hello it's me, I'm not at home
If you'd like to reach me, leave me alone

A change would do you good
A change would do you good

Hello, it's me, I'm not at home
If you'd like to reach me, leave me alone

A change would do you good
A change would do you good

I remember thinking about all that "advice" ... WHEN I HEARD THIS SONG IN 1996

Note from Kevin: OKay, when I heard this song for the first time, I was in my 37th or 38th hour of being in a 10'x12' datacenter modem closet, a long ways from home, and the temperature was a "comfortable" 62 degrees. And I wasn't making much of a salary... Yes, back in the mid 1980's, people told me I'd be bored out of my mind, wouldn't ever make any money, would always be stuck - alone - in cold rooms with big machines whirring all around me... and would NEVER end up with a pretty girl. These days, when I run across any of those people, I tell them how "right" they were, and thank them for doing their best to keep me from becoming a "computer person." They never seem to enjoy those conversations. 'Interesting. My advice to you - Do what you enjoy doing. Do what you want to do. Trust yourself, and don't look back. Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention - back 3-4 months, ago, we finished TOMB RAIDER II.  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

March 31, 2007 (PM)-Yes - we suggest you "Meet the Robinsons!"

This time, it's on Kevin's old PlayStation, and it's Lara Croft's ... TOMB RAIDER II

Note from Kevin: This Tomb Raider II game is a tough one, but we are enjoying it. Kacy sits beside me, every night - on the coffee table in front of the TV - holding my hand. November 09, 2006 (PM)-Finishing DONKEY KONG 64?!?

Donkey Kong 64

Yes, we're getting close to finishing ... Nintendo's DONKEY KONG 64 [click for larger image]

Note from Kevin: It's been a suuper tough game, but Kim and Quinn and Kacy are nearly finished! Quinn is VERY IMPRESSIVE playing this game!! 'MY GOODNESS, is he good! His memory is just totally incredible! I have helped where I could, but it's been 99%, their efforts! Tonight was amazing. We had to finish the Donkey Kong video game to win a Nintendo coin. We had to finish all four levels, twice! So, tonight we decided we were going to sit down and play until we finished the game and got the Nintendo coin. So, I played a few times, and then Kim played a few times, and inside of an hour, I was about to turn it over to Kim, and said I would play two more times. I lost the first one, but on the second one, I won the first game - all four levels and 15,500 points!! Kong fell to the ground, and we got a golden bananna! Then, the game told us, for a special prize, we had to win, again, and that it will cost us two coins each time we played... Kim asked if I should play for the second win, and I said, that I had said I was going to play two times, and then she was to play, and wanted to stick with that. So, I handed her the controls. She started and instead of the girl being carried around by Kong, Kong was carrying the Nintendo coin... And, so Kim played and on her first time - the game immediately after my win - she WON! She finished the game's four levels and scored 16,600 points! And she then got the Nintendo coin!! TWO WINS INA ROW!! One for Kevin and one for Kim! So, now she and Quinn and looking for the final key to free the dragon...  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

October 29, 2006 (PM)-MANY TIMES, Quinn and Kacy do things that are interesting... But, we do not stop and record them. Just to mark this time and statement, I'll tell you of one that just happened a few minutes, ago.

Note from Kevin: I was finishing my shower, and I noticed Kacy opening one of my bathroom drawers - the second one, from the top - child-protected, of course. NONE of the child-protects stop Kacy. She opened the drawer and pulled out a bottled water container - from Sonic, actually. She then, closed the door - carefully, and tried to open the top of the water bottle - pulling, and pulling, and she got it just a bit open. Then, she sipped from it, and carefully placed it - standing up - as it was - back into the drawer, and closed the drawer. I noticed, she did not close it, and told her she had to close the water bottle, before she put it back into the drawer. She said, "No, Daddy, nooo... Drink!" We went through this, twice, more. So, I took it out of the drawer and asked her to sit down on the floor, and to hold the bottle between her legs - which she did. I told her to squeeze the bottle between her legs, and pull the top, up. She did - no problem. Now, she clapped and then took a drink from the water. She put the bottle back in the drawer, closing the drawer properly, pulled it back out, opened the top, and drank from it - a lot. But, then she put it back in the drawer, standing up, but not closed. I told her, no, that she had to push down the top of it. She said, "Daddy! No close!!" I opened the drawer, pulled out the water bottle, and told her I would show her how to close it. She said, "K!" I then told her to close the top of it, by first standing it up on the ground, and then pushing the top down with her thumbs. I showed her how to do it, with my thumbs. She took the bottle from me, placed it standing up, on the ground, sat down, with the bottle between her legs, and she pushed it down with her thumbs - on the first attempt! She clapped, and said, "Yaaaa!" She then drank from it, and put it back in the drawer. This time, she did not fully close the drawer. She stopped just shy of it, re-opened the drawer, removed the bottle, sat down, squeezed the bottle between her legs, and opened it. She clapped and smiled! She then drank from it, and put it back down between her legs, making sure it was sitting on the floor, and closed the top with her thumbs. She clapped and smiled and then, she put the bottle back in the drawer and closed the drawer. She then repeated this - with a serious, stern look on her face, and did it 100% perfectly, and THEN, she said "Yaaaaa!" and clapped and smiled. And she then gave me a hug, and said "Daddy hep me, tanks, Daddy."  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

October 03, 2006 (PM)-Here is one of my entry layouts that didn't get published in this coming month's [Creating Keepsakes' Scrapbooking Hall of Fame issue] ... but its one of my faves!

As the WorldCom Turns - for the Crothers

Yep, Kevin and I met at ... WorldCom [click for larger image]

Note from Kim: We both worked at the corporate world headquarters that was located in Clinton, MS. We were there for its downfall. I quit when Quinn was born (to be a stay-at-home-mom) and Kevin was laid off a couple months after that. We lost all of our 401k's and stock options. Times were tough but we made it through it (it took a couple of years to feel settled again). Anyways, looking back on that time in our lives is bitter sweet...we might have lost our money, security, etc...but we gained all of that which money can't buy. I wouldn't trade that WorldCom experience for ANYTHING!!! We worked there when we met, when we got engaged, when we got married, when we found out we were pregnant, and for the birth of our son.

Note from Kevin: CONGRATULATIONS, Kim! You might have trouble finding this embedded mp3... :-o :-| :-) I love listening to this call!!!

September 11, 2006 (PM)-IT'S BEEN FIVE YEARS, AND WE'VE NOT HAD ONE TERRORIST ATTACK WITHIN OUR COUNTRY!

NW3C's web site - fixed by WorldCom/Crothers

Check the date of this ... NW3C LETTER [click for larger image]

Note from Kevin: I was a bit more involved than I wanted to be... and none knew about it - outside of the slatedFox, that is. Yes, sir, Mr. H-----, thank you for your approval for me sending two of my best guys (special thanks to Kevin Orkin!), but I did not follow your BullShit orders of "YOU, STAY OUT OF 'IT'." It's now been a safe 5 years for everyone INSIDE our country. THANK YOU, President Bush!! and THANK YOU to our USA's Great Armed Forces!

The work we did, produced this quote, which is approved for use, by NW3C:
"WorldCom has volunteered and assisted the National White Collar Crime Center, by providing network architecture and information assurance support for the operation of the www.ifccfbi.gov web site, which is being utilized to receive tips and information relating to the catastrophic events of September 11. 2001."  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

July 18, 2006 (PM)-At the Crothers's house in Harbortowne of Ridgeland, MS...
Mississippi was 103 degrees on July 17, 2006

we reached a record high ... 104.7 °F

Note from Kevin: Early this morning, we returned from a four day trip to Jacksonville, Florida. We thought we might be escaping some of the hot weather that was in Jacksonville, but we were surprised with this very, very hot Tuesday! This is going to be a hot summer. This was also an all-time record for July 18. The previous record high for this day was 102 °F / 38.9 °C on 07/18/1980.  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

July 09, 2006 (PM)-The Crothers family is on the backCOVER!
Kim Crothers SONY SnapLab Ad

SUPER HANDSOME Quinn Crothers is giving you a hint to ... FIND & BUY ONE

Note from Kim: I'm totally goobin' out...lol! We found this magazine at Borders last night and it's my first ever cover! Kevin, Quin, Kacy, and I went in the Dogwood Festival Market Borders and there it was! Yep, that's us... all of us.... on the back of this new special issue from Simple Scrapbooks! I am celebrating! Quinn, Kacy, Kevin and me are all on there... lol.. ok, you might need a magnifying glass to see Kevin, but how cool is that??? I know covers (front or back) are not very commen ...SO, I am enjoying this big time!!! :) It's a layout I designed for Sony for like 15 magazines!!! to help advertise the Sony SnapLab that was recently released. This issue totally rocks!!! It's one of those special issues that I really will use and keep going back to! It's the new scrapbooking Quizzes and Questions and it is so inspiring! I have the hardest time scrapping "posed" shots. I have tons of them that I love, but they rarely ever have a story behind them, so they remain unscrapped. Well, these questionairres are the PERFECT journaling to use for those posed shots... can't wait to get started!!!  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

June 10, 2006 (PM)-A movie for the whole family! Yes, Kevin, Kim, Quinn, AND KACY!
CARS - Lightning McQueen

Will the fastest CAR, be ... LIGHTNING McQUEEN!?!

Note from Kevin: Last night, Kim and I were going to see the Davinci Code thing, and so we were dropping off Kacy and Quinn at Kim's parents' house. Kacy would not let go of me - WOULD NOT let us leave, without her! Then, I got her to let go, because I told her I had to go to the bathroom, and she grabbed a hold of Kim! Kim took her outside with everyone, besides me - trying to distract her with badmitten... but, no go! She still would not let go. Kim and Kacy returned to the kitchen. So, I knelt down with Kacy, looked her straight in her beautiful, teary eyes, and told her Mommy and Daddy were not going to see CARS, tonight. Mommy and Daddy were going to a "Mommy Daddy" movie, and we would not see CARS, until tomorrow night. I told her, yes, tomorrow night, Mommy and Daddy AND Quinn AND Kacy were ALL going to see CARS, at the movie theatre. She looked straight into my eyes, and nodded her head, up and down. I then asked her if there was anything I could get for her, before we left. She looked at me, and then pointed up and over at the kitchen closet. I opened it, and she started to climb the shelves. I asked her to point to what she was after, and she pointed up to the 'NILLA wafers. I got them for her, and she then gave me a KACY Hug and a KACY Kiss!! and waved and she was out the door to join Quinn.

Well, tonight's the night! The Crothers family is going to see CARS!  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

June 08, 2006 (AM)-Kacy knows how to dress herself...
Kacy Crothers - Embellished

and others ... LIKE HER DADDY

Note from Kevin: Most every morning, now, I'll step out of the shower to see Kacy holding my towel. I thank her for my towel, as she hands it to me... dry myself, and then ask her for my underwear. She already has a hold of it, and hands it to me. When I'm thanking her for handing me my underwear, she picks up my shirt. I ask her for my shirt and she hands it to me. Then, my pants, belt, socks, and shoes - all of them in order - one by one. Sometimes Quinn wil wake up while she's doing this, and he'll peak in and see which articles might be missing, like my shoes or my belt, and he'll run fetch them and hand them to me - in order! Kacy does not like that. But, nor does Quinn like Kacy handing me the towel, or any parts of my outfit for the day!! They are very competitive over who gets to hand me what - and when.  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

May 04, 2006 (PM)-Sometimes email subjects are...
CIO 100 Results Letter

not what they could be ...

Note from Kevin: Will I try again, next year? That's a good question - for maybe a few months from now. From what they told me last week, my application was still in the running, but it seems it didn't quite make it on the final list...  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

April 22, 2006 (AM)-Our country's GAS PRICES are headed toward $5.00/gallon...
DO NOT BUY FROM EXXON OR MOBIL - GAS IS TOO HIGH

Let's work together to ... LOWER GAS PRICES

Note from Kevin: This will work. They'll feel it, quickly, and they will react buy lower the prices of theior gas.

Join us! I hear we are going to hit close to $5.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher! 'Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

Whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. 'Me too! It is currently $2.89.9 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace... 'Not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on - to as many people as you can. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.25 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.  [Post a Reply to this Note] [Top of Page]

We get to take it off tonight to give her a bath, but then we'll have to put it back on (it's removeable). It doesn't seem to be bothering her at all!
